I am a journaller…if that’s a word. I wasn’t always though. As a matter of fact I get pretty bored just journalling all of the stuff that goes through my mind in a day. You can ask my friends…they’ll tell you I think a lot about a lot of things. But, in the last two years, I have become an avid journaller. I have discovered in that time that I can clean out the closets in my mind by writing things down. I don’t have to keep track of things that way.
Even more than that though, I have learned that I can be still and hear from God much more clearly when I am writing in my journal. I have discovered that I can talk with Him much more directly and have in fact begun writing down what he says to me so I can go back later and find encouragement and direction from it. There have been so many times that I have just felt like “This can’t really be Him talking to me,” and sure enough I find in the Bible either that day or shortly thereafter the same idea or even the same exact words I had written down in my journal.
If you don’t journal, let me encourage you to start. I have discovered that God talks to me by listening for him in the quiet of my journalling time. In the Bible he tells us to “Be still and know that I am God.” I have found this is true. Journal…you’ll be amazed!!!!
